Walk n' Talk and Workshop Descriptions

A morning of Holistic Health and Community Connections

9:30 am; Restorative Yoga

This yoga class will be about creating ease in the body with breath and movement. I would like to encourage self exploration within the yoga class. Moving beyond the idea that yoga poses need to look a certain way and giving  yourself permission in allowing your body to move freely within the guided practice.  An outdoor yoga class gives us the opportunity to incorporate nature into our experience. Sounds, smells, sensations… An invitation to get back to our senses and sink into the land. Let your surrounding support and nurture you. I look forward to guiding you through this!  Please bring yoga matt and warmth if needed to make sure you are comfortable.

10:45 am; Walk n' Talks in the gardens

After yoga, we will serve fresh tea made from the gardens, and then you can choose to meander in the gardens in one of three directions;

To the Medicinal Gardens, where you will see, smell, and learn about the medicinal qualities of plants that we have here on site

To the Permaculture Garden and Greenhouse, where you will have the opportunity to see companion planting, succession planting, and what 16 Pembertonians can do when they work together to create a holistic, regenerative  garden environment that produces habitat and food for animals as well as humans

To the Wild Side!  Or the back half of the property, where we have connonwood and willow forests, cedar growth, a pond, grasslands, bird song, and what else?  Yiou will get the opportunity to expereince both the natural soundscape and a drumbath, and how paying attention to the world around you has its own healing power

Gardening for Sustainability

Gardening isn’t as hard as some people make it look.  This workshop is tailored to help you understand plants to become a more effective gardener in whatever space you have available.  We will talk about companion planting, using live mulch, watering techniques, and feeding the soil to improve your yield and your relationship with your plants.

Medicinal Salves

Learn to identify native and wild herbs that can be used in ‘back country first aid kits,’ then harvest and prepare a multi-functional medicinal salve for itches, bites, scrapes, and wounds.

wander around to find...

Bat House Building

The property has many bats around but the more houses we build the more bats we can have! Come learn a little about bat habitats and habits. The houses will be pre cut and we will be gluing and hammering them together.

Dream Catcher Creations

We will make the frames of our dream catchers from willow from the property, then weave our Dreamcatcher and decorate with feathers and shells. This is a fun and creative workshop to make a Dream catcher for protection during dream time. For all ages.

Clay Time Play Time

We will have a station set up outside for you to press a clay piece!  We will keep your contact info with your piece (best to sign the bottom), it will need to dry for some days before being fired in our kiln after initial molding and then again after glazing, so we will see you a couple times to get this project finished!

There is a wheel but as this is an outside workshop, and due to time constraints, it will be unavailable at this time however if you are interested in giving that a go, a session could be booked at a later date or on your return to glaze.
