Learn how to save seeds- kids can participate or play at the farm!

  • donation based
  • Pemberton Meadows Road

Service Description

Which seeds do you have to ferment, which can just be dried? Which ones could have hybridized? How do you pick which seeds to save? Where do you store them? For how long? And why do you save seeds!? Come join us at Nurture in Nature Community Farm to learn the answers to these questions and more! Bring the whole family- children aged 3 and up have the option of participating in the workshop with their parents, playing in sight of parents at an art and digging station, or exploring the farm with our farm educators. There will be something fun for everyone! Once you begin saving seeds, you will never go back! Seed Saving is an ancient art that encourages cultivating genetic diversity in your own backyard, increases your personal ability to be resilient as the world around you changes, empowers you to have autonomy over your food sources, and is a fun yet scientific little game at the same time! This donation-based workshop is in part funded by PlanH Health Community Funding in partnership with the Village of Pemberton. PlanH creates healthier communities by supporting partnerships across sectors, providing learning opportunities, resources, and consultation, and facilitating collaborative local action.
